A thoughtful guide to sharing pictures and videos
Ask before sending, check what is in the frame, and keep control of what you share with new people.
Ask before sending
An unexpected photo can change the tone of a conversation. A quick “Want to see the view from my hike?” gives the other person a choice. In a three-person chat, ask both other participants before sharing. Winkora allows pictures and videos in private conversations; the public lobby is text-only. External links, social handles, contact details and invitations to other apps are not allowed, including inside media.
Look beyond the main subject
Before sharing a picture, check the whole frame. An address on a package, a name badge, a school or workplace sign, or another person in the background may reveal more than you intended. Check your device’s location-sharing settings too. Winkora does not promise to remove metadata from your uploads, so remove information you do not want to share before sending.
Only share content you have permission to share
Being in possession of a photo does not mean you should publish it. Ask before sharing identifiable pictures of someone else, and respect their answer. Do not send intimate images without consent. Consensual adult sexual content is allowed in private conversations only after everyone involved agrees. Minors, nonconsensual intimate imagery, exploitation, harassment and illegal material are prohibited.
Understand the limits of a private chat
Private means the conversation is limited to its participants in the app. It does not mean the recipient cannot save, copy or photograph the screen. Winkora does not provide end-to-end encryption. The owner can review any stored conversation, including unreported messages and attachments. Private-chat media is delivered without advance review. Moderators can review all uploads, reported messages and automatically flagged text. Avoid sending documents, payment details, passwords or anything you would be distressed to see shared elsewhere.
Know your controls
Private-chat uploads are delivered without advance review. Attachments from other people stay behind a reveal button until you choose to open them. Reports are reviewed when a moderator is available. You can report an individual message or block its sender. Blocking hides that person’s messages and prevents new random matches with them in the same session. Ending and deleting your session removes your uploaded files and messages from Winkora; it cannot erase copies another person already saved. Supported files are JPG, PNG, WebP, MP4 and WebM, up to 20 MB each.
